What is 4-H?


Dublin 4-H is an organization located in Dublin, California where young people can develop confidence and poise in front of groups, learn leadership skills and abilities, understand citizenship, and increase life skills through learning activities and group interaction, all while having fun and making new friends. Participating in 4-H is superior preparation for higher education, business, government, and other careers. It provides the opportunity to experience running meetings properly, keeping records, handling money, conducting yourself in a job interview, and presenting concepts and ideas. All of this is available in a fun, non-threatening environment with others who quickly become friends, while experiencing projects of your choice according to your interests.



History of the Dublin 4-H Club (California / Alameda County)

This chapter of 4-H is reaching its 70th Anniversary from when it received its charter in the 1950’s. Celebrating over 50 years of community service and youth leadership in Dublin, the Dublin 4-H club provides an environment for young people from age 7 to 19 years old to have fun and build self-esteem while participating in learning activities that stress Citizenship, Leadership, and Life Skills.



What are the benefits of 4-H

How much does it cost to join 4-H?

You need to pay $100 per year as part of your dues. The amount of your dues will vary per state or club.

I keep hearing the term "projects". What are projects?

Projects are teen or parent volunteer led discussions or meetings to help other 4-H club members learn about a certain topic. Types of projects include Computer Science, Arts and Crafts, Robotics, Rocketry, Public Speaking, Puppetry and more. Projects are also "Learn by Doing" activities in which 4-H members do hands on activities in order to learn a subject or topic a more practical way.
